Imagine riding a bike in tandem, with both of you pedalling sometimes and other times one of you just goes along for the ride. Both trusting and relying on each other to get to your favourite places.
Or imagine pedalling at different speeds and trying to steer the bike towards different directions. Imagine not quite knowing what the other one is up to and not trusting them to take you where you want to go.
OOOOOOOOPS…that doesn’t work too well ,does it?
This is what we often try to do with our conscious and sub-conscious minds. Although they should be working in tandem, trusting each other and playing as a team with the same goals, sometimes this does not occur.
The conscious mind is aiming to be happy and successful, while the sub-conscious is aiming to be disappointed and a failure.
The conscious mind is aiming for an abundant life with many friends, while the sub-conscious mind is aiming for a sadder life with no friends.
And, guess what? The sub-conscious team player is stronger, faster, more adept, and totally , ruthlessly efficient ,at attaining its goals.
This is happening at some level, most of the time ,in all of us.
That is why we sometimes feel caught in a struggle within ourselves. Often feeling desperately inadequate and frustrated that somehow, no matter what we do, we can’t seem to get the results we really want.
The solution is many- fold:
*We need to consiously have our goals for ourselves explicitly clear. This is where goal-setting and clarity of intent are crucial life skills.
*Once we are clear on our conscious goals we need to communicate these effectively to our sub-conscious mind.
*One way of doing this is to put our conscious goals at a subliminal level so that they can be communicated effectively to our sub-conscious mind. It will then understand that these ideas are the direction you want your life to take.
Subliminal affirmations do a particular job:
They speak directly to the sub -conscious mind and allow it to be ‘re-programmed’.
Subliminal affirmations can do this because they speak at that sub-perceptive level. This is usually at speeds of between 10-30 milliseconds. Subliminal affirmations need to be fast because then the conscious perceptive mind is by-passed and the sub-conscious can install the new idea very quickly.
*We need to have images around us that continually reinforce our conscious goals, we need to establish symbols that represent what we desire surrounding us in the real world .
The symbols , allow both ‘minds’ , to be reminded of where we are heading and what we want.
*We can use pictures, symbols, objects eg: if a particular stone reminds you of how wonderful you feel when you are on holiday, and you want more holidays in your life , then have that stone on display. It can be any object at all as long as that object represents some quality you want and desire in your life.
